Just Survive to shut down October 24

UPDATE:

Just Survive is no longer shutting down, read more here.

Original Article:

Some sad but expected news has come out of Daybreak recently regarding the original H1Z1 zombie survival game now known as Just Survive. Daybreak have announced that they will be shutting down servers for the game on October 24.

Here is the statement from the developers:

Dear Survivors,

After careful consideration, we’ve made the difficult decision to sunset Just Survive on Wednesday, October 24 at 11 a.m. PT. The excitement of the game’s promise was palpable and its loyal community is still full of ideas for its future. Unfortunately, we are no longer in a position to fulfill its greatness and the current population of the game makes it untenable to maintain.

Just Survive was part of our first Early Access project, and we learned a great deal during its development. As with any open world game, the greatest stories came from our passionate players. From the incredibly skilled base builders to the free-ranging gangs, and all of the players named variations of “ImFriendly” and “PleaseDontShootMe”, we hope everyone had amazing adventures across Pleasant Valley and Badwater Canyon.

Thank you for taking the time to play the game, to help test it when we opened the Test servers to the public, and for all of the suggestions and feedback throughout Early Access. We truly appreciate everyone’s commitment and your contributions throughout the development process. Our promise is to do better and learn from every experience along the way.

Just Survive servers will remain available for play until Wednesday, October 24 at 11 a.m. PT, and starting immediately all Steam purchases and in-game transactions have been disabled. To find out if you are eligible for a refund via Steam, please visit this link.

Thank you again for your support and dedication to Just Survive.

Best,

The Just Survive Team at Daybreak Games

Define Human Studios has announced that is first-person Battle Royale game Islands of Nyne will release in to Steam Early Access on PC on July 12th.

The highly anticipated title was first revealed in early 2016 and enjoyed a successful Kickstarter campaign during a time when H1Z1 was the only popular Battle Royale game around.

Does Islands of Nyne still have what it takes to compete in todays Battle Royale landscape, or is it just too late to the party?

Astroneer leaving Early Access December 2018

Posted on

Developer System Era released a new trailer for Astroneer during E3 which announced its 1.0 release out of Early Access this December.

The 1.0 release is planned to have expanded multiplayer beyond the current 4-player co-op with the potential for dedicated servers.

Goals will also be coming to the game, optional missions to follow for those who prefer suggestions for what to do, these won't be quests and there won't be any campaign but players who want a more directed experience will have a path to follow if they are looking for one.

Another feature planned is player customisation but no further details have been shared about this yet.

Miscreated new UI

Posted on

Miscreated update #59 adds a new UI and environmental effects, the game is now aware of the area a player is in and evaluates a shelter value (how much protection you receive from the area from weather)

The following types of areas are detected:

  • Insides of houses and bases as well as areas partly inside
  • Ocean, rivers and seas you can dive into
  • Sewers, caves, cellars and bunkers
  • Vehicles

  • The radstorm is deadly when you are not seeking shelter or have protective items equipped or consumed
  • Radiation areas are detectable with a Geiger counter or noticeable by a slightly blue glow
  • Stock up on anti-rad pills, anti-rad mushrooms or potassium-iodine pills before entering known radiation areas
  • You can check item details and differences in your inventory tooltips by hovering over them
  • Anti-rad pills, anti-rad mushrooms or potassium-iodine pills help against radiation
  • The environment protection effects scale with the health of the item, this can be checked in the UI

Raft sails into Steam Early Access

Posted on

Raft is a ocean survival game that can be enjoyed either single player or co-op. The game has been in development for a while before its plunge into Steam Early Access with its single-player-only prototype being freely available on itch.io.

In the game players are floating on a makeshift raft in the middle of the ocean and must scavenge for floating debris and resources to survive and expand their raft.

Raft is available now on Steam Early Access for $19.99 USD / £14.99 GBP or your regional equivelant.

Cliff Bleszinski announced via Twitter earlier today that Boss Key Productions has shut down. The closure comes just over a month after the Early Access launch of their Battle Royale game Radical Heights.

As of today, Boss Key Productions is effectively no more.

Four years ago I set out to make a world class video game studio and I hired some of the best talent in the videogame industry. They worked tirelessly to produce quality products and, while we had our ups and downs, I’d like to think we had fun doing it. LawBreakers was a great game that unfortunately failed to gain traction, and, in a last ditch attempt we scrambled to do our take on the huge battle royale genre with Radical Heights which was well received, however, it was too little too late.

As for myself, I’m going to take some time off and reflect. I need to focus on myself and family as well as my Aussie, Teddy, who is slowly fading from us. Videogames will forever be a part of who I am and I hope to make something new again someday, however, I need to withdraw and take this time.

To those of you who have supported myself and the studio these last four years, THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart and everyone who came to work for me.

Please note that servers for Radical Heights will remain up for the near future.

It is unclear how long the servers will remain online for Radical Heights, but its very unlikely that any development on the title will continue in any form.
