Patch Notes (10/11/2015)

Posted on

Servers will be coming down for general maintenance tomorrow morning starting at 4AM Pacific. The H1Z1 Update will take place during this downtime. H1Z1 servers will come back online at approximately 9AM Pacific.

Patch Notes:

Building Bar:

  • The build bar is opened from the inventory panel by a button on the lower left that says [O]-Build or the ‘O’ hotkey
  • If you change the hotkey the button should reflect this.
  • The build bar shows recipes and items you can build with.
  • Items with no objects to place are alpha’d fifty percent.
  • The items are separated by categories.
  • If you click the red button or an item with no objects to place it shows the items in that category.
  • If you click an item with objects to place it starts placing them until you run out or hit escape.
  • The items sort on the number of objects to place unless you select one then that one stays in the category frame.

Game Fixes:

  • The Cigar Hog mask skin now applies to Motorcycle Helmets. This means the cigar hog mask will also have armor on it.
  • Fire hydrants have new effects that should better communicate the state they are in (ready to hit for water/ready to collect water/out of water).
  • Honey and honeycomb can no longer be eaten when at stage 6+ H1Z1.
  • Fixed door and gate ownership bug
  • Zombie Encounter music is active and the volume can be adjusted in the Sound Settings un Music/Encounter
  • Item stacking in containers has been fixed
  • New Male Zombie model and more visual variety has been added to the zombie horde
  • Specimen bags should drop more often
  • Changed Australia BR Solo to start at 40 instead of 100
  • It should no longer be possible to place objects on top of weapons dropped on the ground.
  • Many placed items on PVE servers are now damageable when those objects are not placed on a foundation.
  • Punji Sticks will now damage all zombies.
  • The Fire Axe can now be used to harvest slain wildlife and zombies.

Green Dawn

Posted on

As H1Z1 continues to grow and evolve in Early Access, we will be testing new game modes and features along the way. One of our newest additions is a game mode called Green Dawn. Green Dawn is Battle Royale with a twist. The gameplay will be faster and more frenetic than ever, plus there will be new rewards!

Here's how the Green Dawn game mode will work:

  • The match begins at dawn, meaning you won’t have the full brightness of a sunny day by which to spot your enemies. Use this to your advantage.
  • The toxic fog rolls in twice as fast as it does in normal Battle Royale. This means matches will be shorter and more action-packed.
  • First place winners will receive one of three exclusive new gun skins. If you're skilled enough to get all three guns skins, you will start earning Mercenary crates for subsequent first place finishes.
  • Airdrop crates will also have unique skins available inside them. If you survive long enough to open an airdrop crate, you will be rewarded for your bravery.

Green Dawn will only be available for a limited time as we test and refine the gameplay. Green Dawn is expected to go live on Nov. 10th alongside a game update.

So, how do you join a Green Dawn match? Well, if you've been wondering what those Event Tickets are for, here's your answer! You can jump into a Green Dawn match by using an Event Ticket. After launching the game, select Battle Royale and click the new button labeled Green Dawn. Once you're in the game we will automatically deduct one ticket from your account inventory. If you have run out of Event Tickets and want to play more rounds of Green Dawn, you can win them in Battle Royale or purchase them from our in-game marketplace.

You can expect to see more game modes like Green Dawn accessible with Event Tickets in the future.

Your feedback is instrumental in shaping the direction of H1Z1. We're anxious to hear your thoughts on Green Dawn!

H1Z1 Showdown

Posted on

Hey Everyone

Some of you have already seen the data-mined information around the H1Z1 Showdown crate. I wanted to jump in here and provide some context to go along with it. We hope to have a lot more information for you this Friday, but since there are so many questions about the piece of this that was uncovered, I wanted to provide you with some info about what's going on.

After the H1Z1 Invitational we got a lot of feedback from the community that they would like to see more events like it. We came up with the H1Z1 Showdown as a way to incorporate players and streamers into a remote event that we will host here at Daybreak. We are creating several whitelist servers for team leaders to run their own weekly Battle Royale matches. Between now and the event in December, those team leaders will choose their top players to compete in the H1Z1 Showdown.

We heard your feedback from the Invitational and wanted to find a way to get more of the community involved. One of the teams will be Team Reddit and that will be run by one of the mods here. Other teams will be run by streamers. We will also be watching the stats on the top Battle Royale players between now and the event and inviting them to participate in the event too. So if you aren't associated with a particular team, you will still have an opportunity to participate in the H1Z1 Showdown. So get out there and earn as many wins and kills as you can muster!

The H1Z1 Showdown crate will be dropping in Survival and Battle Royale. It's got unique skins themed for the Showdown and each of the team captains. For every H1Z1 Showdown Crate key purchased from 11/10 to 12/12, Daybreak will be donating 50 cents to charity, with a guaranteed minimum donation of $40,000. We are finalizing our contract with them now but it's a foundation that we here at Daybreak truly believe in and one we hope the community will rally behind. Expect to see more on that charity as more information about the Showdown comes out.

We will have a lot more information about the H1Z1 Showdown in the coming days so keep your eyes open for it.

Test Server Changes (03/11/2015)

Posted on

There was an update to the Test Server yesterday with a whole bunch of great additions and fixes, you can read the patch notes but we're going to highlight some of them here.

The first notable change was the "fix" to prevent objects being placed on top of dropped weapons, while many were using this to get around some annoying placement bugs like not being able to place a Workbench inside of lower level Shelters, others were using the bug for other means and creating towers of objects and stairs to hop into bases.
Next is that Punji Sticks will now correctly damage all zombies that walk over them and the Fire Axe has been fixed so that it can once again harvest wildlife and other corpses.

In terms of additions they have added new name male zombie model and also added zombie encounter music, so when you're in the presence of a bunch of zombies the music will change to create the mood, this can be turned down or off in the settings menu.

Probably my favourite addition to the game in months is the new "Build Bar", from here you will be able to see how many of each structure you have and quickly select what you wish to place and even place them consecutively without having to go into your inventory and select the next one manually. You can see a screenshot of the Build Bar below. Some data for the Repair Box was also added to the game files but I don't believe this is enabled yet.

Additionally there was data for a new crate and new items added in preparation for the H1Z1 Showdown event and the new Green Dawn BR game mode. Below is what we speculate to be the contents of the new crate based off of the data in the game files. As always this data may not be complete yet and is subject to change before going to live.

Also added during this update are the following items but we do not yet know for certain where these fit in, the description for the Gold AR reads "Congratulations on getting into the top 10 of the Showdown!" and the Showdown Shirt has a duplicate name of one above.
